5FDP Say Former Label Sold Off Masters Without Their Knowledge

The band says their back catalog is being sold off in silence, calling it the latest low blow in a years long war.

Five Finger Death Punch

Five Finger Death Punch are throwing punches again, this time aimed squarely at their old label, who they claim is trying to sell their master recordings without their knowledge or approval. If true, it's a dirty move that has all the signs of greed and total disrespect.

This isn’t the first time tensions have exploded between the band and the label. Back in 2016, the two sides went head to head in a legal cage match after the label accused 5FDP of breaching contract terms by recording a new album and a greatest hits collection without the green light. But that was just the surface drama, the label even weaponised front man Ivan Moody’s personal struggles, painting the band as opportunists racing to cash in before things fell apart.

5FDP clapped back hard, accusing the label of exploiting Moody’s issues while offering zero real support. According to the band, the lawsuit wasn’t about contracts, it was a control grab, plain and simple. A desperate attempt to cling to a band that had outgrown the leash.

While the legal circus played out, 5FDP made it clear they were planning their exit strategy. They secured a new deal with a major label known for giving artists more breathing room, ready to cut ties and move forward on their own terms. Eventually, the feud fizzled out in court with a settlement. The label got their greatest hits release with a couple of new tracks, and the band’s already finished album finally got the go-ahead.

But now, the past is clawing its way back. The band claims the label is trying to offload their master recordings behind their backs, no notice, no discussion, no decency. For 5FDP, it’s not just a business move, it’s an outright betrayal. A reminder that in this industry, loyalty is rare and ownership is everything.
