3 Doors Down Front man Diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer

Front man shares emotional message as he begins treatment for advanced kidney cancer

Brad Arnold on stage 2021

Brad Arnold, longtime frontman of rock band 3 Doors Down, has revealed he is battling stage 4 kidney cancer. The illness, identified as clear cell renal carcinoma, has unfortunately spread to his lungs, forcing the band to cancel their upcoming summer headlining gigs with fellow rockers "Creed" on their Summer of '99 Tour.

Arnold broke the news in a heartfelt video posted on Instagram, where he spoke candidly about the diagnosis and his current outlook. Despite the gravity of his condition, he expressed a strong sense of peace, citing his faith as a source of strength. He also referenced the band’s hit song “It’s Not My Time,” saying its message is more personal to him now than ever.

The tour, which was scheduled to kick off May 15 in Daytona Beach and continue across the U.S, has been scrapped as Arnold focuses on treatment and recovery. Fans and fellow musicians, including Scott Stapp (Creed) and Chris Daughtry (Daughtry), have flooded social media with messages of support and encouragement in response to the announcement.

Arnold has faced major challenges before, a serious car accident nearly two decades ago and a long struggle with alcoholism, which he has since overcome. Now sober since 2016, he’s leaning on that same resilience and faith as he begins this new fight.

The band’s website has been updated to reflect the cancellation, and Arnold has asked for prayers and positive energy from fans as he navigates the road ahead.
